WESTONBIRT HOUSE WEDDING - JOANNA & MICHAEL
London-based Joanna & Michael came back to the Cotswolds for their unforgettable wedding day at Westonbirt House. What an absolute pleasure it was to capture this for them.
Westonbirt House is just a five minute drive from where I live and it’s always a joy to drive up towards the house and see it appear from behind the trees in all its glory. Every year I exhibit at their Wedding Open Day and that’s how I met Joanna and Michael. When they told be about all their plans it quickly became clear that their Westonbirt House wedding was going to be a day not to be missed.
After Joanna and her bridesmaids got ready at The Kings Head Hotel in Cirencester. The day started with a Catholic ceremony in a Cirencester church, surrounded by close family and friends. After that, everyone headed over to Westonbirt House for the reception.
Joanna and Michael arrived to cheers and a good dose of confetti. The sun was out, drinks and canapés were flowing in the gardens, and the roses were in full bloom. Speaking of roses, I could spend all day photographing brides and grooms in the beautiful gardens of Westonbirt. I don’t though! Don’t worry. I’m always very conscious of making sure bride and groom are not kept away from their guests, and ultimately their own wedding day, for more than 20 minutes max. Joanna, Michael and I were so swift, we managed to get a great selection of cracking shots in two 10 minute sessions. One before the wedding breakfast, and the other session later on when the sun was a bit lower.
Joanna looked stunning in her Jesus Peiro dress. She did her own make-up and her hair was done by the local and fabulous Abi Andrews. The colourful bouquet from The Flower Hut Tetbury finished off the look in the best way. One of my favourite bouquets yet this year in fact. Also, the prize for the longest veil I’ve seen in real life goes to Joanna. There wasn’t the slightest breeze though so Joanna flung it up with one arm to make it look as though the wind caught it. It worked ever so well!
