TWO MIDWIVES CELEBRATE THEIR WEDDING AT THE ROMAN BATHS
Roman Baths wedding photography capturing the intimate celebration of midwives Carey and Maria as they begin their next chapter together.
Earlier this month, I had the privilege of photographing Carey and Maria's wedding at the Roman Baths in Bath. Both work as midwives at St Michael's Hospital in Bristol, spending their days caring for new families. This time it was their turn to celebrate a milestone of their own.
Carey & Maria’s “sunrise ceremony” took place at 8.15am and was shared with just 25 of their closest family and friends, including four of their children. This day wasn't about a grand celebration, it was about bringing together the people who matter most.
The Roman Baths provided the perfect setting. Before the city had fully come to life, there was a wonderful sense of calm as the guests gathered. The historic surroundings created an utterly beautiful and unique backdrop. As it was my first wedding at the Roman Baths, I had paid a little visit a couple of weeks earlier to familiarise myself.
I could tell you all about how truly special this morning was. But instead I will let Carey & Maria explain it in their own words below:
“Our wedding day was the first day and opportunity in seven years when all the most important and special people to us - family and friends had all been in one place to share and celebrate with us. In that one special moment you have managed to capture exactly everything about their personalities and the close bond they share in the most natural and genuine way with one perfectly timed press of a button. That is a really special talent to be able to put people at ease, recognise that picture in a million and capture those true natural emotions as they happen.”
“You have captured the beauty and emotions of our wedding day so naturally and perfectly without being obvious. You have really captured the grandeur of the Roman Baths which was very important to us and created the most beautiful portfolio of memories for us to re-live all those special moments before during and after the ceremony when we were together on our own and with our guests.
The picture you have taken of my children is a picture which needs no words and just makes my heart explode. We can’t thank you enough. You were perfect for us.”
