Natural, relaxed Barn at Berkeley wedding photography capturing real moments in a unique Cotswold venue – from willow tree swings to fairy-lit courtyards and even a giant slide in the play barn.
The Barn at Berkeley has become a bit of a second home for me over the years. I’ve photographed over 20 weddings there now – across all seasons – and every time, it feels both familiar and fresh. There’s something about the space that just lends itself so well to relaxed, natural wedding photography.
It’s a proper Cotswold gem, tucked just off the A38 near Berkeley Castle. What makes it special? For one, it’s got a great mix of spaces. The gardens are lovely for portraits – there’s a swing under a big willow tree that catches the light beautifully in the evenings, and a little fountain that’s perfect for quieter moments. The courtyard is strung with fairy lights and makes a cracking backdrop for those in-between, candid shots – hugs, laughter, drinks in hand.
Inside the barn, it’s a big open space you can make your own. Whether you’re going for round tables or trestles, it all works. There’s a stage already set up for your band or DJ too – saves you the faff and makes transitions super smooth.
And then there’s the play barn. Honestly, I’ve never seen anything like it at a wedding venue. It’s got a giant slide – and yes, I’ve photographed both kids and newly-weds giving it a go. It adds this lovely sense of fun and surprise to the day.
