WEDDINGS AT BRISTOL REGISTRY OFFICE
The Old Council House is a great spot to get married — right in the centre of Bristol, with five different rooms to choose from depending on the size and feel of your day.
I’ve been photographing weddings at Bristol Registry Office since 2016, and I honestly never get tired of it. Whether it’s the grand Mayoral Room or one of the smaller ceremony spaces, it’s a brilliant place to get married — right in the heart of the city, but still tucked away enough to feel a bit special.
There’s something about the building itself that just works. The grand staircase is always a favourite for a few relaxed portraits — a quick breather from the crowd and a chance to let things sink in. Then it’s out onto the steps for confetti and hugs. I’ve photographed weddings there in all weathers — sunshine, rain, the lot.
The streets around St Nick’s Market are full of life, and make a great backdrop for a wander after the ceremony. There are cobbled lanes, colourful corners, and the smell of coffee and street food drifting past — it all adds to the atmosphere. In the evening some of the alleyways are lit up by fairy lights, that’s what truly makes me a happy wedding photographer :)
Wedding reception venues within a short walking distance include Hotel Du Vin, Bristol Harbour Hotel and Bristol Beacon.
If you’re planning your ceremony at Bristol Registry Office or something similar, I’d love to hear about it. No fuss, no posing — just your day, as it unfolds.
“Judith is the only photographer I would use for special milestones in our lives. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for personal, immaculate and very moving images.””
