A 70th birthday is a milestone deserving of a truly special celebration. What better way to mark the occasion than with a Bristol family photoshoot?

Gifted as a birthday present, this day was all about bringing together three generations. Three sons, their partners, and grandchildren came together for this Bristol family photoshoot. The sprawling grounds of Ashton Court provided the perfect backdrop for this shoot filled with laughter, love, and timeless memories.

The focus was on the spontaneous moments that truly capture the essence of this family. Similar to my approach to wedding photography, the images are taken with the aim to tell the story of deep connections and lasting bonds.

With minimal direction and an emphasis on real moments, the photoshoot allowed everyone to be themselves. Rather than focus on me, I ask families to be themselves, chase after the kids or just enjoy the afternoon sun as if I’m not there. That way I can capture natural moments and the energy between family members.

This was much more than just a photoshoot, it was a celebration of this family’s love for each other. Most extended families I photograph often live far apart and don’t see each other often which makes these occasions all the more valuable. And the results are more than just images, they are memories frozen in time, a reminder of the bonds that hold this family together.
